1- Harry’s story, (at least in the first book), reminds me a lot of the Cinderella story.

2- I’ve often wondered the chaos that Muggles would have with a future wizard/witch and having no idea what is going on.

3- Fish are known to only grow as much as their bowl. It is a stretch that this would apply to Harry.

A great introduction to Harry and young Dursley.

Hey Dave,

I agree with you that Harry’s story has a very fairy tale-like feel to it! Cinderella is a good comparison! Also, I agree, I think it’s definitely a stretch to think Harry didn’t grow because he lived in a closet. Hahaha.

I never really thought about the fairy tail component, but it really struck me how they treat Harry just like Cinderella. Then his “Harry Godmother” (Hagrid) shows up and he gets to escape.

I enjoy the comparissons between the British and American versions that are brought up. I loved your speculation about who the random wizards and witches could have been. I like Prof Sprout as a candidate and I think it could have passed because when you’re 10, people in their thirties and forties are already perceived as old.

Loving the podcast so far. It’s a nice alternate way to get the stories without re-reading, as I have little time. But I’ve rewatched the movies about as many times as yall have reread the books. On that note, I think in the movie, the snake is from Burma because it’s a Burmese python but raised in captivity.

Sisters, I love this podcast and am doing a reread with my boyfriend. (He’s never read them; we’re solving that issue.) I know I’m behind in listening but will continue to attempt my catch up!

Keep up the beautiful work!
