This chapter, (the Death Day stuff), is a prime example of material that works well in a book, but just would not work in a movie. I wish it would have been filmed though, I would have loved to see the Death Day Party.

The ghost society that JK fleshed out is quite fascinating. She could have simply said, “and there were ghosts.”

As to what you would wear as a ghost, I always assume that you wear what you die in, that’s it.

The idea that when Columbus thought the earth was flat is just wrong: http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2013/05/people-in-columbus-time-did-not-think-the-world-was-flat/

I didn’t even realize that the Vanishing Cabinet was a thing before it became more of a key player in the fifth book. This is the kind of thing I truly appreciate during my revisit of the series.

I really like your Filch impressions. I didn’t think about Filch sympathy until this episode. I see what you mean.

I loved the descriptions of the Death Day Party. If you go to http://www.thegeekcanpaint.com/HP2.html there’s a gorgeous painting of the scene depicting so many moments that were mentioned.

I don’t think you get a choice on your forever age or your forever outfit. I always thought that the ghosts in Harry Potter were stuck as they were when they died. They had to wear the same clothes they died in forever and Myrtle had to stay pimply forever. When they died, they didn’t get a choice, they just became ethereal and that was that.
