4.3 The Invitation

This one is for all the swotty little nancy boys out there. Alice and Martha are back to criticize Harry’s friends’ ideas of good food, question the methods of refrigeration in the wizarding world, and imagine Harry as a contestant on What Not to Wear.

Even though I remembered Harry waking up at the Weasleys’ in the movie, the fact that the Dursleys weren’t in the movie at all still surprised me.

Ha, I never thought that ‘swotty’ meant nerdy. Thanks for the definition! It’s strange that it made the American version though, along with ‘knickerbocker’.

Sugarfree does sound gross at first but I like your explanations. Fruit cake isn’t all that bad but I think it depends on the type. My aunt makes a scrumptious one.

The only thing sad about that many stamps on the letter is that it must have been very pricey for the Weasleys for no reason.

Haha, I love the What Not to Wear joke and I don’t even watch the show.

The cake is definitely stale, but it beats grapefruit.

I love the giggling too! 😀

In the UK, the “meat pies” are actually written as “pasties”, like Cornish pasties and the like. They’re sealed up like hand pies, and often are made with cured meats – ham pies and traditional pork pies actually are reasonably shelf-stable. Not for an entire summer, but you could eat those for a week or three in a pinch.
