4.32 Flesh, Blood, and Bone

In what is possibly the most pivotal chapter of the entire Harry Potter series, Alice and Martha fully eulogize Cedric and reflect on the life that was taken from us too soon. Wormtail follows a recipe moste evile to resurrect his master, and sadly, “it” doesn’t drown. Lord Voldemort has returned, and Harry’s life will never be the same again. Don’t worry though; despite the heavy topic, there’s still time for real weird questions, rabbit hole conversations, and, of course, plenty of humor.

Hi guys! I’m new to your podcast and I love it! I am 12, I have watched all the movies (including Fantastic Beasts) and read all the books
(including the the Cursed Child playscript!) 😄 I am a Ravenclaw! I’m so excited right now!

This chapter was incredibly short and devestatingly heartbreaking.

I wonder how willing the servant had to be. Clearly Wormtail did not want to give his hand to the potion, but he did it anyway.

Martha is really giving it her all with the high, cold voice.

When I first read the chapter, I thought that Harry survived the killing curse a second time because he experienced the green light. But shortly afterwards I realized that it wasn’t directed at both of them.

According to the Harry Potter Companion, “The potion that Wormtail uses to resurrect Voldemort is interesting for another reason as well, in that it is clearly the darkest magic we have ever witnessed. No potion taught at Hogwarts has ingredients like these, or a recipe this poetic. It almost seems like it must be some kind of ancient sorcery. Given that Voldemort is not the first in history to use his method for staying alive, I wonder whether this potion has been brewed before as well.”

Maybe the daggar was enchanted. But otherwise I don’t see it cutting through the flesh.
