Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Movie Review

This may be J.K. Rowling’s favorite film of the series (we have some theories as to why that is), but it is certainly none of ours. Nevertheless, we had a great time with Shandy of the Broadcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-broadcast/id1128235491?mt=2) dissecting everything about the sixth movie from the romances to the fiyah to the acting. Oh, and @ShutUpTim was there too.

Three hour episode? It must be a Real Weird Sisters moviecast!

I liked the sixth book but I don’t think I have any connections to the movies so bring on the flames!

Maggie Smith is a queen! I’m glad that she got a shout out.

Moulin Rouge! That’s where I rememnber him from. Thanks Shandi.

I actually remember that Ron and Harry just hanging out in the hall when McGonagall snaps at them.

Lavender Brown was basically this black girl in Harry’s year played by two different black girls in CoS and PoA according to Harry Potter Theory on YouTube. In PoA she was sitting with Parvati in Devination. She had no speaking lines and was a background character. Race wasn’t an issue here. The recasting was for an experienced actress. Whether or not they should have casted a black actress to keep continuity is a whole other discussion.

I was watching a collection of Harry and Ginny moments from the movie. Harry standing up was kind of cute.

Newt is the antithesis to a standard Quidditch player.

Harry’s ‘But I am the Chosen One’ line was hilarious.

Don’t worry Alice, I think this may be very well the last time you watch Half Blood Prince!
